"Assigned to teach English 104W, Introduction to Prose Genres, in fall 2011, I set about designing an experimental course on social and mass media, with a visual pedagogy, an e-textbook, a course blog, a virtual tutorial, a computer-friendly lecture hall with a real-time Twitter feed, and a blog-essay assignment that dared students to subvert the standard print essay by primping it up for the digital age. My goal was to get students to experiment with blogging as a platform for artistic, creative, and scholarly expression." – Paul Matthew St. Pierre
